Studios in Dunedin

Dunedin’s art and craft scene is blessed with a plethora of talented artists, largely due to the fantastic institutions focused on fostering the fine arts – the most noted being the Art School at the Otago Polytechnic. Visitors are often lucky enough to be able to observe these budding craftsmen and women and creative professionals at their finest in assorted studio environments scattered throughout the area.  

A concentration of alluring studios can be found in Port Chalmers, just 20 minutes north of Dunedin.

This studio located in the charming portside township of Port Chalmers specialises in gorgeous contemporary jewellery – primarily sterling silver but also in other natural products and metals.  

The Potters Cottage 430 Portobello Road, Otago Peninsula

The work of ten different potters can be found at this adorable cottage doubling as a studio and gallery/shop in the Glenfalloch Woodland Gardens. Open daily.

An antique/collectors dream will be fulfilled when visiting this studio in Broad Bay, Dunedin – hundreds of interesting old items can be found as well as glassware, linen and collectibles. Open daily.
