The Olveston Experience

Spend a magical hour absorbing the atmosphere in the Theomin family’s historic home, Olveston. The homestead is an early 20th century perpetuation of fine living, grace and style. Gifted to the City of Dunedin in 1966, tours are offered of one-hour duration where you can explore in detail the magnificent gardens through to the opulent grand hall.

Antiques and other aesthetic delights are bristling in Dunedin’s Historic Home, designed for David Theomin by Sir Earnest George, a London architect of utmost brilliance. The experience is the only example in New Zealand where you may savour the lifestyle of the privileged few living at this time in early Dunedin.

A four-storeyed fantasy, the home is set in amongst an acre of manicured gardens and just minutes walk from the city perched just below the suburb of Maori Hill/Roslyn.

Tours for this magical historic residence can be made online, and reservations are required for departures at 9.30am, 10.45am, 12pm, 1.30pm, 2.45pm and 4pm daily (except Christmas Day).
